Privacy Policy

Clippster is a local-only clipboard manager for macOS. This policy explains how the Clippster macOS app handles information.

Summary

Clippster does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your personal information or clipboard content. It has no accounts, cloud sync, analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking technologies, or network calls. Your data stays on your Mac.

Information Stored on Your Mac

To provide clipboard history and search, Clippster stores clipboard items, including text, URLs, images, and files. Clippster watches a user-selected folder for future macOS screenshots and stores those screenshots locally in Clippster’s app data on your Mac.

Clippster may create local metadata, search indexes, categories, and OCR text to make your clips easier to find. These are also stored and processed locally on your Mac.

On-Device Processing

OCR, categorization, and semantic search are performed on-device using Apple frameworks. Clippster does not send clips, screenshots, search queries, or derived data to its developer, a server, or a third party for processing.

No Collection or Sharing

Clipboard Protections

Content identified by password managers as concealed, transient, or automatically generated is ignored before it enters Clippster history. You can delete individual clips or clear your history at any time.

Your Controls and Data Retention

Unpinned clips are automatically pruned when they exceed your selected retention limit. Pinned clips remain until you unpin them, delete them, or clear your history. You can export your history to JSON. Exported files are created and managed by you; Clippster does not receive or upload them.

Because Clippster has no server-side copy of your data, we cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete your locally stored clips on your behalf.

Third-Party Services

If you download or update Clippster through the Mac App Store, Apple may process information independently under its own privacy policy. If you choose to share or export a clip using another app or service, that handling is governed by your actions and the recipient’s privacy practices. Clippster does not initiate those transfers.

If you choose Support in Clippster, the app opens a Tally form in your web browser. Information you voluntarily submit through that form, such as your email address, app version, issue type, and message, is handled by Tally. Clippster does not automatically send clipboard history or other app data to Tally or other third parties.

Children’s Privacy

Clippster does not collect personal information from users, including children. The app stores clipboard content locally on the Mac where it is used.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if Clippster’s privacy practices change. We will post the updated policy here and revise its effective date.
